Anamanawhaaat?

Everyone has played video games in their life time. Whether it be the GameBoy or even the Xbox360. But...what if you use an NES, hack it, and make music from it? Well, that gets you:

Anamanaguchi, (for those of you who do not know how to pronounce it, it is anah-manah-goo-chee), is an 8bit chiptune band that, and I quote from their website, "makes loud, fast music with a hacked NES from 1985."

I first heard of Anamanaguchi two years ago when I was bored of listening to the same songs I had in my iTunes. I was thinking to myself "Why not spark things up a bit?" so I was in the search for music. I used the website Stumbleupon.com to encounter the website 8bitpeoples.com, a place where you can download 8bit/chiptune music, and it caught my attention. I searched for artists and I ended up with a couple of interesting albums to download. I was only judging by their album cover and I saw Anamaguchi's Power Supply, their debut album. I downloaded it, heard it and just fell in love.

Their first song Sting Operation in their album got me hyper, and that's when I officially declared Anamanaguchi of being one of my favorite bands. All their music is so uplifting, but if you want a song to perhaps "chill", you can listen to Flora/Fauna. It's not so hyper, but you can still feel the Anamanaguchi style throughout this whole song.

As for their new album, Dawn Metropolis, I for one thought it was a decent album. Some were dissapointing, I thought certain songs could have been a bit better. But, they're are some songs that get you uplifted. Their single Dawn Metropolis can get you happy in the worse mood, if you want to get up and jump around, you should listen to Danger Mountain, but if you would like a very 'fist-pumping' song where you can definitely expect people to enjoy, listen to Mermaid.

My personal favorites are Helix Nebula from their first album and Mermaid from their latest album. If you want to know more information about this band, visit their website at Anamanaguchi.com
Recent news from the band, they will be doing the theme for the upcoming video game Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

That's all I have for this band, you should check them out, seriously. I will see what I will review next. Well, until next time, goodbye.

(P.S. As you can see, I have a banner, thanks to one of my friends. I will still be working on a finisher.)
(P.S.S I would appreciate if I received comments of your views of this band. Thank you.)

LOL jk

There was a point in time where I genuinely enjoyed chiptunes, that time hath come to pass.

I read both of your reviews and they're definitely up there with everyone else with a blog. The thing I consider needing improvement is your lack of negative views. Remember, you want to be unbiased both ways. For example, Anamanaguchi's 8-bit sounds are a bit repetitive and are slightly dissonant. I know you already stated you're working on your ability to be unbiased, but I just wanted to point it out. Ya' know, constructive criticism? Am I right? Well broski, keep up the good work. Can't wait to hear more.
